1 - I launched my first SaaS - domnest.app

I just launched my first SaaS Domnest, a tool that lets you manage all your domains in one place. This is the story of how I got the Idea, validated, designed, built, and finally launched it.

How the idea came to me

Whenever I get a project idea, I usually buy the domain name right away. It gives me a sense of commitment. Once I have the domain, I feel pushed to actually finish the project.

Over time, I ended up owning more than 8 domain names, and managing them became a headache. I still remember when I needed to add a subdomain to imaduddin.me but couldn’t recall which registrar I had used. Was it Namecheap? GoDaddy? Hostinger? After logging into each one separately, I finally found it on Namecheap and realized it was about to expire in a month.

That was my lightbulb moment. If a domain expired without me noticing, I could lose it entirely. I looked around for tools to monitor and manage multiple domains across different registrars, but nothing simple existed. That’s when I decided to build one myself, right after finishing my previous project ( Xappy - Omegle for developers ). I registered another domain, domnest.app.

Building Domnest

I started by cloning a Next.js SaaS template because I loved its minimalist design. I customized the landing page, updated colors, fonts, and added a product mockup placeholder, and suddenly it looked like my product.

Then I moved on to the actual app. I used WHOIS to fetch domain details and built a clean dashboard where everything could be managed in one place. The template originally had Stripe set up for payments, but since Stripe isn’t available in my country, I integrated LemonSqueezy instead.

I was able to build the first version in just 3 days. After that, I had to pause to focus on my exams.

Launching

Today, I launched Domnest on Product Hunt and shared it on X. I honestly don’t know how it will go. Whether it takes off or not but what matters most is that I took the leap.

Will share more about it❤️
